Dr. Ben Fruhling is a Scientist in Genetic Engineering.
Ben and his wife Barbara desperately want a child, having given up on every option available to them.
Using the skills of his profession, the family dog gives birth to five normal puppies but….one of them is born with a baby’s head on a dog’s body!
They name him ‘Benjy’ as he bears a remarkable resemblance to his father. ‘Benjy’ attends a normal school where he wins all the races and where, in the choir, he is discovered to have a remarkable singing voice. Coupled with his extraordinary appearance, he manages to fill opera houses such as La Scala in Milan and the top spots in Las Vegas, where ‘Benjy’ falls in love with a showgirl.
For every human year that ‘Benjy’ lives, he ages seven years - like dogs.
Genetic Engineering is a highly topical subject right now.
Although an entertaining comedy, ‘Dogsbody’ also raises a lot of ethical and moral questions
