The Parking Lot
A comedy set in Florida about a group of women from all walks of life, who leave their husbands or partners for good reason. Taking whatever vehicle is available they grab clothes and possessions and meet up by a lake on an Indian Reservation. They manage to exist by gate-crashing wedding receptions and parties, eating and drinking at other peoples expense.
The story starts in 1000 A.D. and the characters we meet in the Calusa tribe of American Indians appear – re-incarnated in the present day.
They are:
GLORIA : a retired Movie Star whose banker husband Oscar drops dead, having gambled away all the banks money as well as millions of dollars from her movies. Gloria is forced to flee in her pink Cadillac before the bailiffs arrive at her Palm Beach estate.
OLGA : wife of Boris a dodgy Russian property speculator who has a severe drink and lap-dancer habit. Olga takes wads of laundered roubles and speeds off in Boriss Zill.
MARIA : wife of hopelessly lazy Juan. They run a small backstreet shop and bar in Miami. Maria who does all the work, bringing up their unruly children and also looks after his deaf and disabled mother finally flips...
FATIMA and FARIBA : wives of Prince Yussef an ageing, playboy who lives in a vast mansion in Miami.
LADY CHABLIS (pictured) : a black drag artiste and CORETTA an aspiring singer - with a disastrous love life - who share an apartment in Savannah, Georgia.
We explore their past lives as they bond at a campfire by the lake and watch them change and grow as they each influence the others by their experience of life...
